Hair Night – Chapter Four

The night carried on, warm and comfortable, the air filled with the soft sounds of laughter and the rhythmic brushing of long, silky hair. Robert was back on the couch, phone in hand, watching the screen as Amanda, Courtney, and Rachel continued their styling experiments on the plush rug.

“So,” Courtney mused, twirling a section of Rachel’s hair between her fingers, “since Robert loves hair night so much, I think we should make it official.”

Amanda raised an eyebrow. “Official how?”

Courtney grinned. “Like… a weekly thing. Mandatory hair night.”

Rachel giggled. “Oh, I’m so in. But do we get paid? Since, you know, we’re basically putting on a show for Robert.”

Robert smirked from behind the camera. “You already get paid. I provide snacks.”

Amanda tossed her long blonde hair over her shoulder dramatically. “True. And I do like snacks.”

Courtney reached over and grabbed the brush, running it gently through Amanda’s hair. “Okay, but let’s take it up a notch. What if we start doing themes? Like, one night we do only braids, another night it’s all ponytails, maybe a night where we just try out crazy, over-the-top hairstyles?”

Rachel gasped. “Ooooh, I love that idea! And we can vote on whose hairstyle turns out best.”

Amanda turned toward Robert with a smirk. “And, obviously, Robert gets to be the judge.”

Robert chuckled, zooming in on Amanda’s freshly brushed waves. “I feel like I already won just by being here.”

Courtney rolled her eyes playfully. “You’re so predictable.”

Rachel, who had been silently working on a new style for Amanda’s hair, suddenly clapped her hands together. “Done! Look at this.”

Amanda turned to face the camera as Robert adjusted the angle. Her golden locks had been twisted into an elegant braided crown around her head, loose curls framing her face.

“Damn,” Courtney said, impressed. “That might be your best one yet, Rach.”

Amanda admired herself in Robert’s phone screen. “Okay, yeah, I love this.”

Rachel beamed. “I’m officially the best stylist here.”

Robert smirked. “I don’t know, I think Courtney’s work in Chapter Three was pretty impressive.”

Courtney snorted. “Did you seriously just call it ‘Chapter Three’?”

Amanda laughed. “Oh my God, are you mentally narrating our lives like this is a book?”

Robert shrugged, grinning. “Hey, if the story’s good, I’m gonna keep reading.”

Rachel leaned back, stretching. “Well, then, I guess we have to make sure next week’s chapter is even better.”

Courtney nodded. “Agreed. Hair Night is officially a thing.”

Amanda grinned. “And Robert… you better bring good snacks.”

Robert smirked. “You keep the hair magic coming, I’ll bring the snacks. Deal?”

“Deal,” they all chimed in.

As the night wound down, the girls continued chatting and playing with each other’s hair while Robert sat back, watching, completely content. Hair Night wasn’t just a routine anymore—it was tradition.

And he wouldn’t miss it for the world.
